What is Geek Squad Summer Academy?
Geek Squad Summer Academy is a community sponsored event by Best Buy. At Geek Squad Summer Academy, we partner with local non-profit organizations to teach students about the latest technology in a fun, interactive environment. Team building activities in classes such as PC Build, Programming, Digital Photography, Digital Music and Connected World build friendships and self-confidence.

What information do I need to have to complete the proposal application?
To complete the proposal process, it is crucial that you have all of your facilities information prior to starting the proposal process. Some of the categories that will be addressed during the proposal process are as follows:
- Facility Address
- Number of rooms available
- Room capacities
- Internet connection type
- Internet speed
- Number of members within your organization
- Three calendar weeks that your facility may be available to host an event.

Geek Squad Summer Academy proposals for Summer 2012 will be accepted until May 14, 2012. Summer Academy's five year anniversary schedule is filling up fast so don't wait until the last minute.
Who can attend a Geek Squad Summer Academy?
Geek Squad Summer Academy is a program customized for student between the ages of 10 - 18. There are special requirements and restrictions for some of the locations that will host a Geek Squad Summer Academy based on the non-profit needs and the communities they serve. Can adults participate in the Geek Squad Summer Academy?
The Geek Squad Summer Academy program does not have any programs for adults at this time.
What courses are taught at the Geek Squad Summer Academy?
The following subjects will be taught at Geek Squad Summer Academy events:
Programming
Students will learn the basic foundation for computer programming with teamwork and critical thinking concepts, utilizing some of the most current technologies.
Connected World
Through interactive exercises, students learn the importance of responsible internet use, including protecting personal information, avoiding suspicious content, and how to handle online bullying. The students will learn how to surf the web safely and securely. The students will learn how to use collaborative tools to work together on group projects for information streaming and how to communicate with peers by accessing media through the utilization of tablet computers.
Digital Photography
While participating in groups, students will learn the functionality of digital cameras while improving picture-taking techniques through advanced photography methods.
Digital Music
Students will learn how to use some of the most popular music creation techniques utilizing music creation software. Students will work together to create music by adopting some of the music technology processes that are used by musicians today.
Activities
Activity time plays a crucial part in participating in Geek Squad Summer Academy. Students are able to participate in activities that include that latest gaming systems and content available for Kinect for Xbox 360 and PlayStation® Move systems.
How much does it cost to attend a Geek Squad Summer Academy?
The non-profit organization hosting Geek Squad Summer Academy will determine the amount of the event registration. The registration fee will be $35 or less, and paid directly to the non-profit host.

Geek Squad Summer Academy takes place from June to August each year. However, Geek Squad Academy is introducing a year-round program called L33tFleet that provides technology education curriculum on a year-round basis.
